Loud explosions and smoke were reported in downtown Burj Khalifa area in Dubai amid rising tensions from the Iran–Israel conflict, triggering heightened security alerts across the Gulf region.

According to an AFP report, smoke was seen near Burj Khalifa area in downtown Dubai. It also includes one loud blast on Thursday as Iran army continued strikes across the Gulf following US-Israeli attacks. A cloud of smoke has been observed above a residential neighbourhood.

Authorities in Dubai reported it as a "minor drone incident". The Dubai government's media office shared in a post on X "Dubai authorities are responding to a minor drone incident in the Al Bada'a area. No injuries have been reported".

Downtown Dubai is known as the city’s bustling, ultra-modern "Centre of Now," iconic not just for Burj Khalifa but also for the best of the Dubai Mall, and the choreographed Dubai Fountain.

The Gulf has borne the force of Iran's attacks since the Middle East war started on February 28. More than 24 people were killed in the area, including 11 civilians and seven US service members.

Financial institutions in Dubai have previously stepped up all important security measures. The organization asked the employees to work remotely. All the emergency plans have been reviewed amid the escalating tension. The new Iranian threats target American lenders such as data centres, Citibank, and technology firms.

On March 3, the US government ordered non-emergency staff and their families to depart the UAE. It looks like the threat of armed conflict. The US embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai have suspended routine services.

A Google executive shared, “All employees across the region, apart from critical staff responsible for maintaining cloud infrastructure, had been shifted to mandatory work from home — that continues”.
